Big Sur Birthday

A magical weekend in Big Sur! Started out with a few bumps along the road in the way of 2 massive landslides on Highway 1, which minutes after we were allowed to pass (the Universe smiled upon us & waived us through...), they shut her down & no traffic was allowed in or out of Big Sur to the North or South...  This meant we pretty much had Big Sur all to ourselves with 70+ degree perfect weather, abundant sunshine, cobalt blue skies, emerald green mountains, hillsides chock full of wildflowers, seafoam green rivers, delicious restaurants, well, pretty much deserted ~ just the way I wanted to celebrate my birthday, kind of in solitude, communing with nature...  On the evening of my birthday, we ate at beautiful Nepenthe and got to chat it up with our funny, friendly waiter, Aengus.  Next morning we started out with breakfast @ Deetjen's & again, had the loveliest, friendliest waitress named Laura who hooked us up with some amazing hiking trails.  So we started off on our adventure up Coast Ridge Trail, 4 miles uphill and not a single human in sight ~ about 3 miles up, I heard a loud booming voice behind me calling out "Hey Birthday Girl!" & to my surprise, when I turned around, it was Aengus running up the hill... we hiked & photographed for a good 6 hours that day & saw 1 human being, Angus.... the rest of the weekend was just, well, kind of like that ~ magical & probably never again, we'll experience a solitude quite like that in Big Sur...  Here are some pictures taken during this most memorable birthday... We got very picture-happy... & Yes, the colors were really this surreal... All the vibrant, rich aliveness courtesy of Mother Nature ~ this will be very inspiring for my next design project... Oh & thank you Ry ~ you are the love, light & most precious gift of my life....
